Cotton

Cotton is a natural cellulose fibre made from cotton plants. It is one of the oldest and most commonly used fibres.

Pros

Biodegradable, soft, durable, breathable, absorbent, hypoallergenic

Cons

Wrinkles, shrinks, might pill

Environmental concerns

Although cotton is made of renewable natural resources and is biodegradable, its sustainability is questionable since it requires a tremendous amount of water and pesticides to grow. However, this issue can be avoided by choosing organic cotton.

More sustainable alternatives

Organic cotton
